About
Christians face unique challenges — and opportunities — when working in the theatre. Christians In Theatre Arts (CITA) has been organized to give Christians a continent-wide support network of other believers who are also theatre artists. Whether you’re leading or participating in a church drama ministry, or teaching at a high school or college, or working in the professional theatre; whether you’re a performer, director, designer or playwright, CITA is dedicated to serving you!
CITA exists so that all of its members have access to information:
- in order to deepen their integration of faith and theatre
- in order to improve the quality of their work
- in order to engage the culture through their theatre
CITA specifically strives to serve two groups of people:
Students/emerging artists
CITA exists so that students/emerging artists can:
- have a connecting point with the community of academics/professionals
- to mentor and model
- to provide encouragement
- learn to integrate their faith and art
- set career and artistic goals both vocationally and avocationally
- experience practical opportunities and training to prepare them for success
Working/established artists:
CITA exists so that working and established artists (in academic, non profit and for profit companies) have a space and time for continuing education, professional encouragement and artistic and spiritual inspiration by:
- recognizing and honoring their excellence in the theatre
- providing a venue for the exchange of works, resources and information
- providing opportunities to use their gifts in service to the Kingdom of God
