Margaret Ann Gates Morrow
Margaret Gates Morrow (Margaret Ann Gates) graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with her bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance. Upon graduation, she joined the Broadway cast of “Miss Saigon.” Later in her career, Margaret would rejoin the cast in the principal role of Ellen. The New York Times declared, “Through Ms. Gates’s Ellen…the show’s emotional foundation gets some shoring up.” Margaret has also been seen on Broadway in the original cast for the revival of “The King and I,” starring Lou Diamond Phillips, Baz Luhrmann’s production of “La Boheme,” and City Center Encores! productions of “Tenderloin,” “Pardon My English,” and “Fanny.” Other roles include Christine Daae in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Phantom of the Opera” (Toronto), Alexi Darling in “Rent” (Los Angeles), and Tuptim in “The King and I” (Papermill Playhouse & Fulton Opera). Margaret has also appeared in “Andrew Lloyd Webber: Music of the Night” (International Tour), Frank Wildhorn’s “Dracula” (La Jolla Playhouse), and “Camille Claudel” (Goodspeed Opera). Margaret has made concert appearances at Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Conservatory Concert Hall (St. Petersburg, Russia), and the National Concert Hall (Taipei, Taiwan). She has sung the National Anthem for the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden and the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center.
Margaret has taught private voice for over 15 years and has her teaching certification for K-12 in General Music/Choral studies. Margaret is also an adjunct faculty member at Regent University teaching courses in voice and theater and is currently finishing her master’s degree in Voice Pedagogy from Rider University.
